2/11/10 On friday evening feb 5th, a strong storm traveled across the country and dumped 24 inches of snow friday night into saturday afternoon in Baltimore, Making conditions very difficult for city units to navigate streets. The National Guard was called in to assist with humvees and 6x6 support trucks to help ems, fire and police units. Just as cleanups began, another storm came through the area tuesday evening into late wednesday evening making whiteout conditions and dumping another 20 inches into city streets. A blizzard was in effect for nearly 10 hours, making all streets nearly impassable. From 5pm Friday 2/5 through 7 am Thursday 2/11. Engine 33 and Truck 5 responded to 150 calls for service, even the most simple runs turned into 30 min or 1 hr each, many times members would have to walk through snow up to waist for 3 or 4 blocks to reach residences needing medical attention. Throughout the record breaking weather, The BCFD successfully responded to a couple thousand calls of service, without missing a single response. A great job was done by every single city firefighter and paramedic who worked during those conditions.

10/21/09 Tonight Lt. Tony Ross works his last shift after 27 years of service to the Baltimore City Fire Department, serving the last 19 years as a Lieutenant of Engine Company 33. This evening roughly 50 fellow brothers and sisters attended dinner at the firehouse to honor and say goodbye to one of BCFD's finest! The members of the house would like to say a sincere thank you to Lt Ross for his years of dedicated service, and making Engine 33 one of the best in the city. We wish him the best in life after the fire department!
Pictured Below is Lt Ross(Left) and his Acting Man "Goose" Toskes (right)
"Goose" described Lt Ross this evening in a dinner time speech, here is part of it.
"He is a true Gentleman, and above that one hell of an officer and firefighter. He would show up for work with the same smile and demeanor that set him apart from the crowd. When on the fire ground he was there to get the job done and with the safety on his crew always in mind. He would train the rookies with the old school mind-set and would make sure they were squared away. He treated everyone with respect and earned the respect of everyone he worked with. One thing I most admired about Tony he would defend his company and crew under any circumstance and wasn't afraid to be "the lieutenant". This alone inspired confidence in the people he supervised. I am fortunate to have him for an officer and HONORED to be his friend"
